For court files, the practical custodian path is the Circuit Clerk, while county administrative records route to the County Clerk and sheriff records route to the Sheriff's Office.
Public Access Framework for Macon County Court Records

Records That Are Sealed or Confidential in Macon County
Not every record handled by the Circuit Clerk is open to general public inspection. Juvenile court records are generally confidential under Missouri law. Adoption records should not be described as public Case.net records. Mental health commitment proceedings handled in the Probate Division are sensitive and should be treated cautiously.
